April 7, 1936- October 17, 2025

Jack Grothaus, age 89, passed away on Friday, October 17, at his Oconomowoc home in the Skilled Nursing Facility of Shorehaven Senior Living Center where he had been lovingly cared for the last three-and-a-half years by his wife and the wonderful Shorehaven staff.

Jack's immediate living family includes: Gay Grothaus, his wife of 67 years (and high school sweetheart!); his son Rick Grothaus (and his wife Shelly); his daughter Tracy Frassetto (and husband Paul); his granddaughter Elyse Grothaus (and Fiancé Chris Wagner); his sister-in-law, and four nephews.

Jack moved his family to Oconomowoc in1965 when he was hired by the Oconomowoc Canning Company (subsequently Stokley USA) where he served as head of Food Service Sales for over 30 years. Besides his work, he immersed himself and his family in the community-modeling service in his volunteering for Church, the Oconomowoc School District, Band Parent Association, Kiwanis Club, Toastmasters, Oconomowoc Area Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, and IMPACT School (his son's and daughter-in-law's private school)

Jack leaves a legacy of selfless love, giving, and service, He will be remembered as a patient, thoughtful, and kind man. He demonstrated the highest character and integrity - always being a consummate gentleman believing in fundamental courtesies and respect of others. He was a strong example of how a husband and father- in honor of God, country, and community - prioritized his commitment to his family. And while he may have been a man of few words, when he did speak, he did so with a keen observance of right and wrong. He had a wit that made everyone smile, especially when his own smile radiated though that special twinkle in his eye.

At this time, Jack's family will celebrate his life privately. They feel and appreciate all the support from loved ones whose lives were touched by how Jack lived his life. Memorials in Jack's name may be made to Shorehaven's Charitable Foundation. (Information can be found by clicking HERE or at Shorehaven, 'Support Us', 'Giving Options'.)
