Virginia Walters went home to be with her Savior on July 6, 2026. She was 91 and it was the 75th anniversary of her first date with the love of her life Bruce. They were inseparable, and their love was obvious to everyone who knew them. Ginny had a wonderful sense of humor and always brought out the best in those around her. And she loved children!
Ginny was born in Milwaukee, WI to Ervin and Irma Lorence on July 8, 1934. She went to Marquette University to become a dental hygienist while Bruce studied to become a dentist. They were married on October 16,1954 and were blessed with two children: Chris (Mike) Kirsch and Kurt (Mary Sue) Walters; six grandchildren: Heather Colwell, Brad (Betsy) Kirsch, Adam Walters, Kaitlin (Marty) Walsh, Brianne (Scott) Trevorrow, and Kevin (Alexandra) Walters; and 14 great grandchildren ~ with one on the way. She also had a wonderful extended family filled with brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ervin and his wife Joyce Lorence, nephew Bill Lorence, and her other brother Robert Lorence.
Ginny was filled with joy and cherished the moments spent with family and friends. She especially loved spending time at their cottage on Lake Sinissippi. One of her passions was genealogy and the amount of research she compiled was amazing. In her last year of life her concern was for those around her who were afraid to die. She shared her love for Jesus, and the price He paid in His death and resurrection so that people could have assurance they would live for eternity with Him. Her wish was for others to have the same comfort and peace she had when they came to the end of their life here on earth.
Her family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Shorehaven in Oconomowoc and Agrace Hospice. Their care for her made her final year a very pleasant one.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ashippun, WI are appreciated.
A service will take place on July 13, 2026, at Pagenkopf Funeral Home, 2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066. Visitation at 10:00am, service at 11:00am with a light lunch to follow.
