Violet Lillian Schindel

Violet Lillian Schindel, age 99, of Wales, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026.

Violet was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Edward and Edith Buss on March 19, 1927. She lived a long and meaningful life centered on family, faith, and community. She found great joy in reading, crocheting, bowling, dancing, playing cards, watching the Hallmark channel and singing in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church choir. Violet was recognized as being the oldest member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Violet also loved baking and was especially known for making the best apple pies, a treat her family and friends cherished. She was a dedicated volunteer, always willing to lend her time and energy to help others. Violet spent many hours volunteering in non-profit thrift shops, driving parishioners to events, counting money at church, visiting homebound church members and assisting through Summit Seniors. Violet had a heavy foot on the gas pedal but always declared that she was driving the speed limit. Her kindness and generous spirit touched many lives and will be fondly remembered.

Violet was a beautician and worked in the accounting department at Harnischfeger Industries, P&H, retiring in 1989. Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur; her parents, Edward and Edith Buss; her brother, Edward Buss Jr.; her son, Frederick; daughter-in-law Kathy and her stepson, Richard.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Judy, step-son Ron (Mary), grandchildren: Tammy (John), Jamie (Mercedita), Dawn, Regina (Tyler), Ryan, Pam (Chris), Todd (Jenny), and Renee; as well as many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces (especially Georgia), nephews along with other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

A funeral service will be held on May 15, 2026, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church (470 N Oak Crest Dr, Wales, WI 53183) with visitation at 2:00pm followed by a service at 3:00pm. Burial will take place at Salem Cemetery.

Violet will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
