Thomas Lohmar Schiefelbein, age 93, of Delafield, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. He was born on May 13, 1932, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Gustav and Esther Schiefelbein.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Jean Schiefelbein; their beloved children, Julie (Ron) Bauer and Mary Beth (Randy) Lubben; and an adoring family that includes grandchildren Patrick Bain, Gustav (Kaylee) Lubben, Claire Lubben, Natalie Lubben, Aeric Bauer, and great-grandson Callan Lubben. He is also survived by his brother James (Marge) Schiefelbein, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Adair Larson, Carol Aitken, and Esther Marie Rybolt.

Tom graduated from Durand High School in Wisconsin and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. While attending the University of St. Thomas, he enrolled in ROTC which led to him joining the Air Force. He continued his journey in the Air Force for 2 years, focusing on security and intelligence with the 442nd Fighter Interceptor Squadron based in Minnesota. He furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with gaining a Graduate Degree in Business from the School of Banking, graduating in 1967.

Early in his 41-year banking career, Tom worked at Grand Avenue Bank in the Twin Cities, and later served as a representative for Lederle. In 1964, he returned to Durand, Wisconsin, to join Security National Bank (now Security Financial Bank and Headquarters in Eau Claire). Through years of climbing the ranks within the banking industry, Tom became CEO and Chairman of the Bank and Company. He also served on the Bank’s Loan Committee, Investment & Asset/Liability Committee, and as a director of Security Durand Corporation.

Tom also served on numerous committees of the American Bankers Association and the Wisconsin Bankers Association (WBA). He was President of Group 1 of the WBA in 1976 and later served as President of the WBA from 1988 to 1989. In 1990, following his retirement, he was Chairman of the Minneapolis Federal Reserve Class C Bank Nominating Committee.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Thomas was a proud Eagle Scout, a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, proud member of St. Charles Church, and found joy in his love for golfing.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of ProHealth Care and Angel’s Grace Hospice for their compassionate care during Tom's final days. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, reflecting Thomas’s dedication to helping others. 

Private burial services will be held at a later date.
