Theodore John Jordan

With broken hearts, but countless wonderful memories, we announce the passing of Theodore "Theo" Jordan on June 5 at the age of 71.

Theo was born on October 21 in Milwaukee and spent his life doing what he did best: taking care of people. For 34 years, he served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department, protecting his community with quiet strength, fairness, and a deep sense of duty. He wore the badge proudly, but those who knew him best know that his greatest role was that of husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Theo never met a problem he wouldn't try to solve, a family member he wouldn't help, or a story he wouldn't tell. If you needed him, he was there, often before you even asked. Family was the center of his world, and he spent a lifetime making sure the people he loved felt safe, supported, and cared for.

Theo had a gift for making people feel welcome. He could mix a legendary Old Fashioned or Cosmo, pour a good bourbon (with some extra for the angels), hand you a cigar, and somehow turn an ordinary evening into a memorable one. He appreciated the simple pleasures in life: a good drink, a good laugh, good company, and time spent with the people he loved. He believed life wasn't meant to be rushed; it was meant to be enjoyed.

His grandchildren knew him as a proud and loving grandpa, also known as Grumpy. His children knew him as the dad who would always show up. His friends knew him as someone they could count on. And Julie knew him as her best friend, biggest supporter, favorite travel companion, and the love of her life.

While we will miss his laugh, his beautiful smile, his stories, his advice, and his presence at every family gathering, we are grateful for the example he set. He taught us that loyalty and integrity matter, family comes first, and that life is best lived with a little humor, a lot of love, and occasionally a glass of bourbon in your hand.

Theo is survived by his loving wife, Julie; his children, James (Sarah) Jordan and Sara (Kevin) Brown; his grandchildren, Kaylin, Alexander (Elly), Ryan, Landyn, Brookelyn, Aidyn, Gracelyn, Valyn, Faithlyn, children of James & Sarah; and Theodore (Teddy) and Helena (Lena), children of Kevin & Sara Brown; his siblings, Sharon Jordan, Mary Jordan, and Louis (Lynn) Jordan; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends whose lives are richer because he was part of them. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eri and Emily Jordan, and his brothers, Eri Jordan Jr., Jimmy Jordan, Joey Jordan, and Rich Jordan.

So, when you think of Theo, don't think of a goodbye. Think of a well-made Old Fashioned, a good cigar, friends and family gathering full of laughter, and the stories that made him who he was. Remember the bad jokes, the adventures, and the moments we all swore we would never forget. Tell those stories often, because every time they are shared, a little piece of him lives on.

Remember him as a life well lived; a man who spent a lifetime taking care of others, loved his family fiercely, and left each of us better for having known him.

Cheers, Theo. We'll take it from here.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date
