Sharon Lynn Burns, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on January 31, 1944, in Racine, Wisconsin, Sharon was the cherished daughter of Kenneth and Gladys Scurlock. A lifelong resident of Wisconsin, she found her home on a small family dairy farm in Johnson Creek.
Sharon was a devoted mother to her daughters, Dixie and Wendy, and a beloved grandmother to Mallory and Logan. She had a zest for life that was reflected in her many hobbies, including gardening, reading, board and card games, cherished moments spent on casino outings with her husband Bob, and especially the yearly vacation in the beautiful Northwoods of Vilas County on Lost Lake – a family tradition that goes back 60 years. A lifelong fan of Elvis, Sharon often found joy in the music that accompanied her vibrant spirit.
Sharon was a gentle soul, and her calming presence was felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was known for her empathetic listening, patience, and her ability to bring comfort to those in distress, qualities that made her not only a remarkable social worker but also a cherished friend and confidante.
Sharon is survived by her children Dixie Lee, and Wendy Jo (Andy); grandchildren Mallory Maple and Logan; nieces Debbie (Al) Braun, Pam (Gary) Peterson, Chris Blakey, Amy Burns, and niece-in-law Bridgette Wolfe. Nephews Tom (Janice) Wolfe and Chad Burns. Further survived by her sister-in-law Sherry Burns, and other family and friends. Sharon also leaves behind her pet friends Punkin, Cinders, and Toby who gave her much love and comfort.
Sharon is preceded in death by her husband Robert Burns, parents Kenneth and Gladys Scurlock, sister Dona (Lloyd) Wolfe, nephew Bill Wolfe, sister-in-law Pat (Jerry) Olson, brother-in-law Frank Burns, parents-in-law Margaret and Robert Burns as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Her legacy will be honored and remembered by all who knew and loved her. The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Oconomowoc and Waukesha Memorial Hospital and the ProHealth Rehabilitation Hospital of Wisconsin, as well as their caring neighbors Pastor Frick, the Olszewski family, and Linda Jablonski for their support during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made by planting a tree in Sharon’s memory, symbolizing the life, love, and strength she shared with everyone around her.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date; check back for updates.
