Sara Joy Spence (Schaefer)

Sara Joy Spence (Schaefer), age 42, passed away peacefully by her husband’s side on April 15th, 2025.

Sara was born in Menomonee Falls, WI on September 23rd, 1982 to Tony and Gwen Schaefer.

Sara is survived by her husband Peter, her parents Tony and Gwen Schaefer, her brother Dale Schaefer, daughter Alliah Schaefer, son Anthony Bump, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless dear friends.

Sara had a vibrant love for family, travel, the outdoors, and all of the opportunities for fun, adventure, and indelible memories that the combination of the three provided. As an experienced downhill skier and paddler she found great joy in traveling the country to pursue her hobbies with her husband Pete and took every opportunity to include her children and introduce them to new activities and experiences.

Sara’s love for her children was without measure, and one of her favorite things in life was planning and preparing elaborate family meals, getting her kids involved, and imparting them with bits of her encyclopedic knowledge of the art of crafting her amazing recipes.

Most importantly, Sara cherished the moments spent with her family, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her home healthcare nursing team from ProHealth for their unwavering support and compassion during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to one of the organizations that Sara & Pete volunteer with in Sara’s name are welcome.

Funeral services will take place on May 3, 2025 at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066) from 11:00am-1:00pm, followed by a service.
