Samuel Armond Greco

Samuel Armond Greco Jr., born May 13, 1930, to Samuel Greco Sr. and Rilla Getty, lived a long life shaped by resilience, hard work, and quiet love. Growing up during a time when life was not easy, he learned early what it meant to persevere. Those early years helped form the strong, determined man so many came to know.

He later married the love of his life, Albina, and together they built a family rooted in strength and enduring commitment. They were blessed with three children: Samuel Greco III, Darlene Marie Barbara Meyer, and Terry Greco. He worked hard building houses, creating not just structures but homes for others, carrying that same dedication into providing for his own family.

Samuel was a man who loved deeply, even if he did not always express it in ways that were easily seen or understood. His love was present in his work, in his stories, and in the way he stayed connected to his family. He affectionately called his daughter Darlene “Dolly,” a small but meaningful reflection of his heart.

His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Brady and Kylie, children of Samuel III; Jennifer, Melissa “Missy,” and Christina “Chrissy,” daughters of Darlene; and Mandy, Levy, Chaz, and Seth, children of Terry. He also cherished his many great-grandchildren, taking pride in each of them and always wanting to hear what they were doing and how they were growing.

Though he could be tough at times, there was no question that he loved each and every one of them. He was a man full of knowledge, never afraid to share what he had learned about life. He could make you laugh, often when you least expected it, and those moments will be remembered just as deeply as his lessons.

For 53 years, I had the privilege of loving my Grandpa. We spoke every day, sharing stories, laughter, and life. He made a lasting difference in my life by teaching me, guiding me, and simply being there. He often spoke with pride about his children and grandchildren, wanting the very best for all of them.

In the end, he asked that we make sure everyone knew he loved them. Even if the words “I’m sorry” were not always spoken, his love was always there.

We always ended our conversations the same way: “I love you with my whole heart.” And with a smile, he would remind me not to forget his strawberry shake, or he would be mad—and then we would laugh.

As I write this, I find myself smiling through the tears. While my heart aches for just one more conversation, I know that Grandpa made a difference in this world, and especially in my life.

Grandpa, I love you with my whole heart.
