Ronald Edward Subera, age 86, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026. Ron was born in Hillsboro, Wisconsin to Edward and Lydia (Weber) Subera on September 30, 1939.
Ron is survived by his wife, Betty, whom he was married to for 62 years. He is also survived by his two children Deb (Stephen) Culhane and Brad (Sherry) Subera and his four grandchildren Conner Culhane, Lydia Culhane, Russel Culhane and Arianna Subera, his sister Elaine Lee, brother/sister-in-law Elble (Gayla) Lamb, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, son Dale, his sister Bernice Kubarski, brother-in- laws Gene Kubarski, Don Lee, Russel Lamb, Everett Lamb, sisters-in-laws Rita Lamb, and Naomi Lamb and his in-laws Tom and Bessie Lamb.
Ron was one of a kind. He didn't talk a lot but when he did it was something worth listening to and his sense of humor and signature sarcasm all spoken with a twinkle in his eye was priceless. Prior to getting Alzheimer's he enjoyed spending a couple months of the winter in Arizona. Ron was passionate about classic country music, gardening, the Green Bay Packers, the Chicago Cubs, playing euchre, a steak from the Texas Roadhouse and his family.
Ron will be remembered for his kindness, his strength, and the quiet ways he showed up for the people he cared about. Those who knew and loved him will carry his memory forward in the lessons he shared, the love he gave and the moments they were fortunate enough to spend by his side. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Towner Crest, St. Croix Hospice and the View for their compassionate care and support.
The service will take place on April 11 at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin (800 Lake Dr, Oconomowoc, WI 53066). Visitation will be from 10-12; service at 12 with a light lunch following.
Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice are appreciated.
Pagenkopf Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
