Roger Dean Evenson

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Roger Dean Evenson, who left this world peacefully on October 22, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on February 21, 1947, in Austin, Minnesota, to Herman and Nellie Evenson.

Raised in a family that instilled the values of hard work and dedication, Roger excelled in athletics throughout his high school years, earning letters all 4 years in baseball, football, and track. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting ducks and turkeys. Roger cherished family adventures, one memorable trip going to Hawaii where they caught a big blue marlin, and fishing charters on Lake Michigan with his sons, Christopher and James, and grandson Landon.

Roger was also a devoted Vikings fan. He enjoyed watching countless games and even attended a game at the new stadium with his sons and grandson. A lifelong singer, he had the honor and privilege of performing at Lincoln Center in New York City in 2018 with his church choir showcasing his love for music.

Professionally, Roger dedicated 33 years to MayTag Company, where he served as a respected Sales Manager until his retirement. His talents extended beyond the workplace; he was a skilled carpenter and woodworker, creating beautiful pieces, including two biplanes. In his later years, Roger embraced painting, honing his skills in watercolor. He was also a dedicated golfer, starting at the age of 15, and achieved a hole-in-one with the Carol University Group and enjoyed rounds on extraordinary courses, including time spent golfing in Troon, Scotland.

Roger is survived by his loving wife Marsha; sons James (Kelly) Evenson and Chris Evenson; grandchildren Landon and Anna Evenson; daughter-in-law Amy (Chris) Lueth; Brother-in-law Larry (Sandy) Murphy; sisters-in-law Tonya Cook and Nancy Evenson; nieces Kristen Evenson, Karla Evenson, Tammy Martin, and Tracy Smith; Godson Trent Murphy; and many other family and friends.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents Herman and Nellie Evenson, son Jonathon Evenson, and brother-in-law Ric Murphy.
