Robert Richard Punjak, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 78. Bob was born in Ashland, Wisconsin, on August 9, 1947, to the loving parents of John and Anna (nee Kamensky).
Bob joined the U.S. Army in 1970, serving his country with honor before returning to a fulfilling career in construction. For 33 years, he worked with Langer Roofing, where he began as an Operating Engineer and later transitioned to becoming a skilled Crane Operator. His dedication to his craft and his colleagues was evident, and he took great pride in teaching clients how to operate cranes after his retirement with Giuffre Brothers, traveling across the United States.
In 1972, Bob married the love of his life, Mickie York, in a beautiful ceremony at St. Joan of Arc in Okauchee. He was known for his love of hunting and fishing with close friends, as well as for his outstanding culinary skills and green thumb as an avid gardener. Bob had a remarkable ability to bring people together, as evidenced by the unforgettable family gatherings he organized. One of his most cherished memories was celebrating the 95th Harley Anniversary, where he hosted family camping in his yard, treating everyone to a spectacular breakfast buffet that showcased his culinary skills.
A craftsman at heart, Bob took great joy in handyman projects and woodworking, always eager to lend a helping hand or share his skills. He was also a proud member of the American Legion Post in Delafield, where he served as House Agent and made a significant impact by sponsoring a girls' baseball team and organizing local tournaments and the annual Coon Feed.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Mickie; daughter Vickie (Jay) Miller; several grandchildren; sister Agnes O’Leary; and many other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by parents; daughter Kimberly; kitty Beans; his brothers and sisters; and nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Waukesha Memorial, the Veterans Affairs team, and Dr. Baginski for their attentive care and support during Robert's journey.
