It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert L. Haley, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life peacefully on January 6, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on July 21, 1934, in Wilkes Barre, PA, Robert-affectionately known as "Bob"-spent his life embodying compassion, innovation, and an unwavering dedication to those he loved.

Growing up in Wilkinsburg, PA., Bob was not only a talented athlete and a dedicated Steelers fan, but also developed a profound love for animals, a bond that would last throughout his life. His connection with animals, particularly his cherished dog, Annie, was a testament to his nurturing spirit. Bob's deep empathy for all living creatures was one of the defining qualities that endeared him to so many.

A proud veteran, Bob served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and Ogden, Utah. His passion for aviation, which began at the young age of 14, carried him through his years, flying both airplanes and helicopters. This love for flight remained a constant in his life, a symbol of his boundless curiosity and adventurous spirit.

Bob had a love of travel, whether by air or on his motorcycles. He and his close friend, Mike Hayden opened "Freedom Wheels" motorcycle shop in Oconomowoc and Watertown, a venture that allowed Bob to share his love of adventure with others. No matter how far he traveled, a part of him always remained rooted at home. His warmth and generosity made him a father figure to many, and his remarkable ability to connect with people made him a cherished friend.

Bob was also known for his hands-on nature-his love for tinkering, building, and restoring, especially in his self-built, treasured clubhouse. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life: spending time with Annie, sharing laughter and stories at the counter at George Webb, bonding over tractors, and, of course, enjoying sweets. Though he was not one to dress up in a suit and tie, Bob's passion for learning and problem-solving led him to become a self-taught expert in mechanical and electrical engineering, building a successful career as a sales engineer in the safety equipment industry. His tenacity and insight made him a valuable resource to many.

Bob is survived by his children, Susan (Eric) and Andrea (Steve); his grandchildren, Matthew and Haley; Paolo; his pup, Annie; nephews Tom (Deb) and Bob; nieces Jan (Manuel), Vicky (Peter), and Gail (Stan); brother-in-law Jim (Karen); along with other extended family and friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna Haley; his loving wife, Angela "Angie"; his son, Scott; his brother, Bill; his nephew, Bill; and close friends Mike and Lee. Bob continued to be especially proud of his children and grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at AngelsGrace, Three Pillars, and the VA Hospital, as well as the staff at Aurora Summit, for their compassion and kindness.

As we remember Bob, we carry forward his legacy of love, laughter, and an enduring appreciation for the simple joys in life. May he rest peacefully, knowing he has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.

In honor of Bob's remarkable life, an Open House celebration of his journey will be held on Saturday, June 6th from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at 5999 N Hwy 83, Chenequa, 53026.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to help fund a memorial bench for the new dog park in Oconomowoc. Checks can be written out to: Friends of Oconomowoc Parks and Trails.
