Robert "Bob" Leroy Burns

Robert Leroy Burns, fondly known as Bob, passed away on July 16, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on May 21, 1943, to Robert and Margaret Burns, in Madison, Wisconsin, Bob led a life deeply rooted in agriculture, dedicating many years to the hard work and commitment of dairy farming.

Those who knew him well often recall his quiet demeanor, attributed to a kind nature and a giving heart. Though he was a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes, as he was always ready to lend a hand. He found joy in life's simple pleasures such as fishing, trips to the casino, board and card games, and vacationing in the beautiful Northwoods of Vilas County on Lost Lake – a family tradition that goes back 60 years. Bob was also proud of his years serving in the United States Marines.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife Sharon; his children Dixie Lee, and Wendy Jo (Andy); grandchildren Mallory Maple and Logan; sister Pat Olson; nieces Chris Blakey, Amy Burns, Debbie (Al) Braun, and Pam (Gary) Peterson, and nephews Chad Burns and Tom (Janice) Wolfe. Further survived by his sister-in-law Sherry Burns, niece-in-law Bridgette Wolfe, and other family and friends. Bob also leaves behind his pet friends Punkin and Cinders who gave him much love and comfort.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; brother Frank; brother-in-law Jerry Olson, parents-in-law Kenneth and Gladys Scurlock, sister-in-law Dona (Lloyd) Wolfe, nephew Bill Wolfe, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Thank you to the staff of Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital and a special thank you to Stephanie and Martha in the outpatient clinic and Chaplain Kathleen, as well as the staff at Rainbow hospice, our neighbors Pastor Frick, the Olszewski family, and Linda Jablonski.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date; check back for updates.
