Reva Fay (Mickey) Reeves Washington passed into the hands of Jesus, Monday, Sept. 8th, 2014. Preceded in death in 1997 by her loving husband, Thomas Lackland Washington. Reva was the Mother of Thomas R. Washington, Carrollton, TX, Elaine F. Boldt, Oconomowoc, WI and Patricia W. DeMuth, Fitchburg, WI. Grandmother to Andrew and Alexandra Washington, Kathleen DeVolld, Samuel and Ariana DeMuth, Great Grandmother to Lyndon, Eden and Colten DeVolld. Reva was born in Langhorne, PA on December 30, 1927 and adopted by Dr. Charles Everand Reeves, PhD and his wife Frances Fugate Reeves. Reva lived in several cities and towns across the United States during childhood as her father, who was an eminent public education consultant and educator, helped create many of the State Education departments during the 1930’s. Dr. Reeves was also a prominent early author of several books on public education including School Boards: Their Status and Activities. New York: Prentice-Hall, Inc., 1954, and Parents and the School: A Guide to Cooperation in Child Development. Public Affairs Press, 1963. Reva graduated from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, VA in 1945 and earned a Bachelor Degree in Education from Purdue University in 1949. Reva married the love of her life, Thomas Lackland Washington on June 15, 1948 in Alexandria, VA. Reva worked in the Pentagon and as a bank teller prior to having children. Their union was blessed with three children, Thomas, Elaine and Patricia Ann. Reva and Tom lived in Virginia, Maryland and Wisconsin as Tom was promoted and transferred by his employer. In 1968, the Washington’s arrived in Oconomowoc, WI and made it their home. Reva was a homemaker and a talented bridge player. Reva was a member of the Oconomowoc Junior Women’s League, held a Gold Life Masters rating in the American Contract Bridge League, and Reva was the creator of the Underground Bridge Group which taught the game of bridge to many people in Oconomowoc. Reva and Tom retired to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas in 1992 with Reva returning to Oconomowoc in 2012. Memorial services and burial at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Alexandria, VA will be held at a later date. The family may be contacted through Thomas R. Washington at 1805 Countryside, Carrollton, TX 75007.
