Ralph Lavern Andrus passed away peacefully at home on July 9, 2025.
He was born on February 10, 1936 in Chetek, WI to Robert Edward and Martha (Urquhart) Andrus. Ralph graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1954. He joined the US Army in 1955 serving 7 ½ years and was activated in 1961 to Fort Lewis, Washington during the Berlin Crisis.
He married Donna (Tunak) in 1960 and they had 2 children, Julie Maphis and Curtis Andrus. Ralph and Donna were married nearly 65 years and lived in the same home for that entire time.
He was a dedicated employee at Dynex Rivett Inc. in Pewaukee and retired after 34 years with them. In retirement he volunteered at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School. He enjoyed many games of golf with family and friends, Bible studies and working on his beautiful lawn and gardens, especially his hostas.
Ralph is survived by his wife and children, along with grandchildren Bryce (Brittany) Maphis, Brent (Ty Hutchinson) Maphis and Brynn Maphis and great grandchildren Landon and Madison Maphis. He is also survived by his sister Gloria (David) Nazari, sisters-in-law Patricia Andrus, Paige Lewis and Patricia Andrus, and many special nieces, nephew's and friends.
Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Henry and Leona Tunak, granddaughter Brianna Maphis, brothers Robert, Rodney and Ronald Andrus, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Melvin and Betty Probst.
The family would like to thank the Home Hospice nurses, especially Jody, and special family friend, Terri Alexander, for the wonderful care they provided in Ralph’s final days. We would also like to thank all that held us up in prayer and supported us with your caring thoughts and kind words.
Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School in Oconomowoc or the charity of your choice.
Ralph’s funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (210 E. Pleasant St., Oconomowoc, WI 53066) on Saturday, July 26. Visitation from 9am-11am with the service at 11am, officiated by Pastor Lance O’Donnell. Ralph will be laid to rest at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia, WI.
