Phyllis Marie (Yunk) Breuer, daughter of Gerald and Mathilda “Sis” Yunk, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on April 12, 2026, following a devastating cancer diagnosis. Phyllis faced her illness with remarkable courage and grace, using the final ten months of her life to create even more meaningful memories with family and friends.
Phyllis was born on June 30, 1946, in Cassville, Wisconsin, and grew up on a dairy farm with her parents, sisters, and brother. She fondly recalled childhood days spent picking raspberries and mushrooms, gathering potatoes her father had dug, and caring for her beloved dog, Trixie—memories that always brought a smile to her face.
A 1964 graduate of Cassville High School, Phyllis met the love of her life, Gary, at the Parkway where she worked as a waitress and Gary frequented on Saturdays. She often shared that she knew after just six weeks that he was “the one.” Phyllis and Gary married in 1968 and shared 57 wonderful years together, building a life rooted in love, family, and their shared hometown.
Throughout her life, Phyllis worked a variety of jobs, but she especially enjoyed her time in retail at Farm and Fleet, where she formed lasting friendships.
Above all else, Phyllis’s greatest joy was her role as a mother and grandmother. She was deeply devoted to her son, Corey, and her twin daughters, Jill and Gina. She was later blessed with two adored granddaughters, Gabby and Lexi. She was also a proud Nana to her granddog, Callie, who clearly chose her as a favorite.
Phyllis treasured time spent spoiling her granddaughters and making memories together, including trips to the Milwaukee County Zoo, the state fair, dance performances, and their cherished annual back‑to‑school shopping and lunch tradition.
She had a special love for holidays, especially Christmas, and her homemade cookies were eagerly anticipated by family and friends. Her famous saran wrap game became a beloved family tradition. Even as adults, her children continued to receive Valentine’s gifts, Easter baskets, and the occasional St. Nick’s surprise—always alongside the grandchildren.
Phyllis loved adventure and was fortunate to travel to destinations such as Hawaii and Alaska with Gary, as well as London and Italy to visit Jill and her late son‑in‑law, Phil. Above all, she treasured her annual “ladies’ outings” with her sisters, mother, and aunts Eleanor and Clara—trips she looked forward to all year and returned from with stories of unforgettable shenanigans. Her siblings—Elaine, Annie, and her late sister Janet—were a constant source of joy and support, and those shared adventures that spanned three decades were among her most cherished memories. She also shared a close and loving bond with her brother Gary, whose kindness and steady presence meant the world to her.
A lifelong lover of babies, Phyllis dedicated time through St. Paul’s Church to creating layette gift bags for new families. She delighted in finding the perfect baby clothes to include and took pride in knowing she had helped welcome countless babies over the years.
Phyllis will be deeply missed by her husband Gary; her son Corey and his wife Heather; daughters Gina and her partner Vince, and Jill and her partner Shawn; her cherished granddaughters Gabby and Lexi; as well as her neighbors and many friends.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her cancer care team and neurosurgeon through ProHealth, and to the ProHealth Hospice team, who ensured her final months were comfortable, peaceful, and filled with compassion.
