Mary Jane Nelson, age 75, passed away on March 27th, 2026 with loved ones by her side. She was born in Hartford, Wisconsin on July 31st 1950 to Lester and Mabel Christopherson.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Rodger Nelson. She is further survived by her children Tina (Tim) Hackbarth and Christa (Tim) Gavin, grandchildren Seth Hackbarth, Emma Hackbarth, Caleb Gavin, Jacob Gavin, Kayla Nelson ( fiancé Jonathan Hanlon) and Ayden Schmidt. Her sisters Anola Beine and Carol Jones, sister in-law Carol Zietlow, many adored nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents Lester and Mabel Christopherson ( Christenson), her parent in laws, John and Sylvia Nelson( Lauersdorf), son Eric Nelson, grandson Brady Hackbarth, brother Glen Christopherson, sister Lois Fuiten, her brother in laws and niece Jenny Beine.
Growing up, Mary lived on the family farm and attended Hartford Schools. She was so proud of her Mustang, and liked to give rides to her nieces and nephews. Mary found joy in sewing, gardening, bird watching, baking and making others happy and was proud of her twin daughters and son.
Rodger and Mary were married on Valentines Day 2/14/1972, at St. Olaf's Church in the Town of Ashippun.
She was always there to help others with what they needed. She valued the many coworkers and friends she made throughout her life.
Most importantly, Mary cherished the moments spent with her family, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love.
Mary was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc.
In lieu of flowers memorials to the family are appreciated.
Visitation will take place Friday, April 10th, 2026 at 10 am to 12 pm, with a service to follow at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (New location: 2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066).
