Margaret Mary Herriot

Margaret Mary Herriot (née Gogin), 74, died on May 25, 2025. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 19, 1950, to Richard and Frieda (née Kane) Gogin. “Margi” was the youngest of 13 siblings. She graduated high school in 1968 and attended Marquette University, where she met her first husband, the late Robert Bruce Herriot Jr. They married on June 3, 1972, and had three children.

Margi spent her early career as a teacher's aide at Pewaukee High School, where she inspired many students. She later transitioned to Cooper Power Systems (now Eaton), where she enjoyed a fulfilling career spanning over 25 years serving as a Customer Service Representative.

Above all, Margi cherished her role as a mother. Her children were the most important thing to her. She actively participated in their lives, dedicating her time to volunteering for school events, leading scout troops, and hand sewing Halloween costumes. She loved to bake chocolate chip cookies, brownies and butterhorns on special occasions.

With her sassy humor and sharp wit, Margi had a unique ability to light up any room and keep everyone laughing. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, where she found tranquility in nurturing her meticulously maintained yard.

Margi was a loving mother to Nicole (Cameron) Goodman, Christopher (Kristen) Herriot, and Jaime Herriot; grandmother to Sophia Herriot, Colton Herriot, Claire Goodman, Breana Speath and Haleigh Alvlord. She will be missed by her brother Thomas (Marge) Gogin; sisters Kathy Schrader and Karen (Robert) Rosecky; sister-in-law Pauline Gogin; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Frieda (née Kane) Gogin; siblings, James (Patricia) Gogin, Ruth (Ray) Grandlich, Richard Gogin, Gerald (Gloria) Gogin, Robert Gogin, Patricia (Robert) Sczalsinski, Mary Ann (the late Michael) Radocha, John (Kea) Gogin and Sheila (Steven) Schnieder. She is also preceded in death by her second husband, the late Micheal Castner, who adored her and her children.

Margi had a special bond with her caretaker, Madison Heckendorf, who provided exceptional care and support during the later years of her life. Madison went above and beyond, becoming not just a caregiver, but a true member of the family. For her dedication and compassion, the family extends their heartfelt gratitude.

In honor of her life and the love she shared with others, Margi’s family will host a private celebration of her life on June 1, 2025.
