Madelyn Carol Robins (Lenox) of Sullivan, Wisconsin passed away on February 23, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and tenacity. She was 78. Madelyn was known affectionally by family and friends as Aunt Madge, Madgie, Carol, Sis, or Maddy. Madelyn was born on May 14th, 1947 to Hannah and Dell Lenox in Alliance, Nebraska. Throughout her life, she lived in many different states, finally settling in Sullivan, Wisconsin.
Madelyn never met a stranger and welcomed all into her life. She was warm, funny, and loved a good laugh. She was a lifelong student of history and human behavior, often crediting her father for instilling those skills in her. She was extremely persistent at just about everything she put her mind to and had a work ethic that was admired by many. Upon graduating from high school, she dedicated herself to helping others by becoming a CNA. She had a wealth of knowledge about the body and how to keep it healthy and shared that knowledge with others. Madelyn was also a brilliant chef. She honed her cooking skills at her grandmother’s ranch in the Nebraska Sand Hills, feeding ranch hands and family starting around the age of 12. She continued to share her love of food and took great pride in her ability to cook amazing food for 1 or 100 people.
Madelyn was a grand storyteller; she would talk as long as someone would let her. She loved nature and plants and animals. She was also a keen observer of everything around her and knew how to capture a room. She had an affinity for dogs, especially greyhounds. In her younger years, Madelyn could be seen shooting pool, training dogs, playing bridge, or playing the accordion. She lived all over the country and her observation skills helped her be extremely adaptable and successful in her work as a professional Greyhound dog trainer. In later years, she enjoyed talking to the birds, gardening, reading, playing cards, watching thought provoking movies, and of course, reaching out to others to chat. Madelyn's willingness to embrace greater humanity as family will be missed.
Madelyn is preceded in death by her father Dell Lenox, mother Hannah Cherney (Lenox), and brother Larry Lenox. She is survived by sister Amber (Will Hutchinson) of Laramie, Wyoming; niece Stephanie Hess (Lenox) of Caledonia; nephew Steven Lenox (Mercia) of Winchester, Virginia; niece Holly (Jess) Spiegelhoff, of Rhinelander, nephew Derrick Osborne of Laramie, WY, nephew Brandon (Saundra) Osborne of Laramie, WY, niece Kristin (Harrison) Yates (Osborne) of Laramie, WY, and uncle Leroy Louden of Windsor, CO. She also had many great and great-great nieces and nephews and is survived by many neighbors and friends whom she considered her close family.
A visitation to celebrate Madelyn’s life will take on place on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066) from 10:00am-11:30am with a service to follow.
