Kenneth Neill Sappington, born August 11th, 1948, passed away on April 30th, 2025 after a prolonged ordeal with dementia. Ken is survived by his sisters, Susan Ann (John) Basehore, and Pamela Jo (Mark) Ruder. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Kelly (Jason) Potter, Shannon (Joe) Linhart, Kenneth Neill (Theresa McNutt) Ruder, John (Lisa) Basehore, Nicole (Eric) Johnson and Meghan (Tom) Findley, as well as many beloved cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lena (Oliverio) and Joseph Neill Sappington.
Ken was a dedicated employee at Gress Equipment as the Parts Manager in Fairmont, West Virginia starting in 1977. Ken was steadfast in his work for Gress as it transitioned into Leslie Equipment. His commitment to his career lasted until his retirement in 2013. Besides his many years at Leslie Equipment, Ken was a security guard in his early career, having many stories and adventures with his security dog on his nightly rounds. Ken was an avid health and outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed cycling, his motorcycles and going to the range to fire his many exotic firearms, even loading his own ammunition.
Ken was always known for a great story and a good laugh. Many family memories entail Ken’s ability to enrapture those around him with his interesting life stories. We will truly miss Ken enjoying sharing his tales with friends and strangers alike. In his early retirement years, Ken was extremely generous to the charities in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Born in Clarksburg, Ken lived in his own home up until the need to reside in a memory care facility near his family in Wisconsin.
