Kenneth Lee Ludwigsen, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, at the age of 91, in his favorite reclining chair at his home in Dousman, WI. Ken was born in Milwaukee, WI on September 6, 1934, the loving son to Leonard and Ruth Ludwigsen (nee Madsen).
Growing up in Hartland, Ken attended local schools where he laid the foundation for a life built on service and dedication. After completing his education, he served honorably in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952, an experience that instilled in him the values of duty and honor. Ken's journey then took him to Germany, where he worked as a photographer, capturing moments and memories that he would later share with family and friends.
In 1961, he married the love of his life, Vera, whom he met at her father’s filling station. Their union was a testament to love and partnership, and they cherished their life together as they raised their son, Greg.
Ken’s unwavering commitment to his family was only matched by his dedication to his profession.Ken's career in law enforcement began in 1960 when he joined the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department. He served his community with honor and integrity until his retirement in 1984. His legacy in law enforcement will be remembered by those who knew him, both as a colleague and a friend.
He enjoyed a rich life filled with adventure, including his passions for hunting, fishing, and golfing. With a zest for exploration, Ken traveled throughout the United States and Canada, proudly visiting all 50 states. His winters were often spent basking in the warmth of Mission, TX.
Ken will be missed dearly by his wife of 64 years, Vera; along with many other family and friends.He is preceded in death by his son, Greg; his parents; and sister Barbara.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to a charity of your choice in Ken’s name will be welcomed.
A visitation to celebrate Ken’s remarkable life will take place on Thursday, September 25, at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066) from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with a service to follow. Friends and family are invited to honor his memory, and military honors will conclude the service, acknowledging his service to our country. After the service,the family warmly invites everyone to join them for a meal, a time of remembrance to share stories and celebrate the wonderful life Ken lived. Ken will be laid to rest at the Village of Hartland Cemetery at a later date.
