Joyce Vena

Joyce Elaine Vena, 80, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, died on Friday, April 1, 2011 at home. Born on October 10, 1930 in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Guy L. Cruzen and Marion H. (Gitlzaff) Cruzen. She attended schools in the Kenosha County area. In 1950 she married Bernard L. Vena in the parsonage of Grace Lutheran Church in Kenosha. She worked at Sears for 25 years, then Marshall Fields and Milwaukee Area Technical College before retiring. She was a member of Oak Creek Assembly of God in Oak Creek before moving to Oshkosh, Wisconsin in 2005 where she became a member of New Life Community Church. Joyce was active in catering weddings, baking cakes and cookies for many church functions as well as for church and family members. Surviving her is her husband, Bernard of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; a daughter, Suzanne Smith (Gerry) of Oshkosh; a son Randy Vena of Oak Creek; one brother, Wayne Cruzen (Lynn) of Oak Creek; sister-in-law Betty Cruzen of San Antonio, Texas; 1 grandchild, Thom Hadel (Lorie) of Oshkosh and two great-grandchildren, (Spencer and McKenna). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Oran Cruzen of San Antonio, Texas; and brother-in-law Leopold Vena of Kenosha. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Oak Creek Assembly of God, 7311 South 13th Street, Oak Creek. Service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Entombment will be at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Oak Creek. Memorials are suggested to Affinity Visiting Nurses Hospice.
