It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Joseph “Joey” Dondlinger on October 19, 2025, in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Born on May 3, 1940, in Granville, Wisconsin, Joey was a devoted son, brother, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed.
Joey started his 40-year career at his father's business, “Dondlinger’s Garage” and continued onto “Grosenick/Christian INC.” Joey then retired from Metal Solutions Inc. As a machinist within the industrial sector, Joey dedicated many years to his craft, known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Despite his humble educational beginnings, he embraced life's simple pleasures with great enthusiasm and joy.
Throughout his life, Joey was passionate about bowling, relishing the camaraderie it fostered among friends and family. He loved to participate in horseshoe games, sharing laughs and forming lasting memories. A true Wisconsinite, Joey was an ardent supporter of the Milwaukee Brewers, never missing an opportunity to cheer for his team. In moments of relaxation, he found comfort in the lively rhythms of polka music, often tuning into WTTN to enjoy the sounds that brightened his spirit.
Joey is survived by siblings: Margaret (Eldon) Maier, Peter (Pat) Dondlinger, Anne Obriecht, Thomas (Diane) Dondlinger, Flo Pierce, Leo (Chris) Dondlinger; as well as 12 nieces and nephews.
Joey is preceded in death by his parents Michael and Catherine (Smith), sisters Mary and Johanna and nephew Andrew.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 11:30 am, at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066). Visitation will take place prior to service from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, with a luncheon to follow. Burial will take place at St. Henry's Catholic Cemetery (CTH L Watertown, WI 53098) at 2:45 pm.
Family would like to thank the staff of Shorehaven, specifically Celeste and the night staff for taking such good care of Joey in his final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made out to the charity of your choice.
