John Kerry Williamson from the Town of Ixonia passed away on July 30, 2026 at the age of 75 after a year-long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Barb Williamson, brother Phil (Debra) Williamson, sister-in-law Merry Griffith, four nieces, three nephews, and seven great nieces and nephews. John was also surrounded by many wonderful friends including Don and Kay Kratz who supported him throughout his illness. John was preceded in death by his mother and father, Genevieve and Earl Williamson, brother, Gary, and sister Marie Adsit.
John was born in Milwaukee, moved to Okauchee with his family, and attended Oconomowoc High School. He traveled to and lived in many locations around Wisconsin, but spent most of his time in the Oconomowoc area before marrying Barb and finding his home in Ixonia. He had multiple occupations over the years, but his greatest passion was serving as president and manager of Avalon Therapeutic Equestrian Center where he was able to help change the lives of many people through his love of animals great and small. John also had many creative hobbies, most importantly, woodworking and making fine furniture out of barnwood. He was an avid golfer, sports enthusiast and lifetime Badger fan. John embraced his connection to Canada through his father and grandfather.
John had an unrelenting love for his wife and family and covered his gruff exterior with a not-so-hidden soft side taking care of every living thing around him. John was a gifted storyteller who could spin a tale while drawing people in with the Williamson smirk and a glint in his eye. John always lived his life bravely and unapologetically on his own terms.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Okauchee American Legion Post on Sunday September 27th, 2026 from 1pm-5pm.
