Joanne M. Barth passed away peacefully at Care-Age of Brookfield on March 14th, 2026, after celebrating her 95th birthday. Joanne was a devoted wife, auntie and friend, generous in spirit and always willing to provide sound advice, especially to her nieces and nephews. Our auntie was a classic, with the features of Audrey Hepburn and a stunning wardrobe that would make Jackie Kennedy envious. She was a head turner. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert, her brother James Boschuetz and her mom and dad, Carl and Josephine Boschuetz.
On her 5th birthday, her father purchased a Vose and Son baby grand piano, which she cherished, because she knew the financial strain it placed on her parents during the Great Depression. Joanne became a radio concert pianist by the age of 10, accompanied by her brother James on the violin. This piano was the essence of Joanne throughout her life, as she played for guests, friends and relatives into her late 80’s with complex sonata’s that would astound most accomplished musicians.
Her focus and tenacity translated to her pursuit of a career in accounting. After her graduation from Washington H.S., Joanne worked for her mother at the Hilltop Cafe on 35th and Burleigh, but then accepted a position at Renner Manufacturing, later at Kiekhaefer and finally Steel Fabricating as an account specialist. Although Joanne never received a formal degree in accounting, many of her recommendation letters stated that “Joanne could assume any accountant’s position, including the controller, and do their jobs blindfolded.”
With retirement, Joanne and her husband Robert, pursued a winter haven in Florida, where they were avid golfers.
Perhaps Joanne is best known for her themed parties that she and her husband would host throughout the year. All were memorable, and anyone who received a handwritten invitation considered themselves fortunate, especially if she requested your presence at a Toga party in the 70’s.
Joanne had a soft spot in her heart for doggies, starting with her beloved Airedale, Sandy. Whenever she visited her favorite neighborhood canines, the furry little angels would wait patiently until Joanne lavishly doled out the treats. In return, she would receive lots of big wet doggy kisses.
During the later part of her life, Joanne looked forward to her visits from her neighbors Shawn, Debbie and Barbie, who became very close friends and confidants. Between gardening with them, fish fries, wine parties and golfing—they helped provide meaning to her existence.
Joanne was a big part of the Lincoln family holidays in Okauchee and was more than eager to interact with the resident labradors, demanding their attention with the ultimate reward of a milk bone.
The highlight of her time in hospice was punctuated by visits from her nephew Tom Boschuetz, niece Nancy Rodee and Sue Lincoln, great nephew Cody Lincoln, and great niece Hayley Vrchota.
A special thank you to the caregivers at Care-Age and Badger Hospice for their unwavering compassion and kindness during Joanne’s final years.
As A.J would always end her conversations with the one’s she loved the most---Huggy, Huggy, Huggy. Squeezy, Squeezy, Squeezy.
