Joanna Sandsmark died peacefully on July 7, 2025. She is survived by Tim Sandsmark (Linda Hendricks) of Lakewood, Colorado, Bill Sandsmark (Jamie) of Coronado, California, and 5 nieces and nephews (Emilee, Evan, Brady, Karly, and Kai). 

Born in Oconomowoc on December 16, 1957, she attended Oconomowoc High school. Growing up, she was very creative and wrote and participated in several plays and made many homemade movies with her family and friends which led to pursuing a college degree in Communication Arts: Radio/TV/Film at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. Upon graduation she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of being in the entertainment industry. As a voice actress she appeared in numerous commercial, industrial and animated projects, including the popular animated television series, "Rugrats". Joanna was extremely talented at recreating dozens of different dialects. As a writer, she had written for DC Comics and was influential in creating a new Wonder Woman character Cassie Sandsmark. She was a staff writer on TV's "Weird Science", and has written five books, including "The Wisdom of Yo Meow Ma" and "A Girls Best Friend: Why Dogs Are Better Than Diamonds". She taught both writing and voice-over in various formats, in the classroom and out, and she was a member of the Writer's Guild of America, Screen Actors Guild, and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. Joanna also narrated several audio books which were enjoyed by many people, including family and friends. 

Joanna was smart, generous, and had a great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.
