James Joseph Kagan

James Kagan, age 82, passed June 24, 2026. Jim was born June 9, 1944 in Waukegan, Illinois to Dr. Louis Kagan and Catherine Kagan and grew up in Spring Grove, Illinois. Jim is survived by his wife Sandra and sons Mark and David (Kelly) and brothers Louis, Pat (Jean), Bishop David Kagan, Michael (Janet), and a sister, Mary Lou Lewis; along with grandsons Taylor and Lucas and step-granddaughter, Devin Molinar and nieces and nephews and family and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents.

Jim graduated from Marquette University with a bachelor’s degree in communications/journalism. He was an on-air personality on radio stations WRIT, WOKY, and WBCS. He became owner of CPI, an audio/visual business making commercials.

Jim’s interests were music and cars. His hobbies were boating and waterskiing with family and friends.

His family would like to thank the fourth-floor nurses and CNA’s at Aurora Hospital in Summit and nurses and CNA’s at Avina Rehab, and his home caretakers from Home Instead for all the care they gave Jim.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Medical College of Milwaukee Cognitive Neuroscience Research in Jim’s name.

A private service will be held for the family.
