Gwendolyn "Angie" Hibbard

Gwendolyn Angenelle Hibbard passed away peacefully January 4th at her home in Oconomowoc, WI surrounded by those who loved her. She was almost 96 years old. Known to many as “Angie” she was quietly and humbly grounded in her faith, family and ever dedicated to living a life of integrity.

Angie was born Gwendolyn Angenelle Langley in Lytle, TX on February 8, 1930. Raised in Benavides, TX, Angie was older sibling to 2 brothers and a sister in the midst of oil fields and farms. Even though most of her adult life was spent in Lodi, WI, she returned to Texas often and was proud of her home. Looking for adventure and a lifelong desire to travel, she made her way to Los Angeles, where she met and married Vilas “Pete” Hibbard and soon after moved to Lodi to begin a lifelong career with Dane Mfg Co. and to raise their family with daughters Brooke and Tracey. They were true partners in sharing life and it was difficult to lose Pete at the young age of 64. Angie then became the sole owner and president of Dane Mfg Co. until her retirement. She was proud of the success of the company, putting those that worked for her first and the needs of the company ahead of her own. Her work ethic, honesty, integrity, generosity and excellent example has been an inspiration to many.

She was a longtime member of the Lodi United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and in her younger years the Lodi Garden Club and Omniana. Her commitment to always putting her best foot forward and known for her love of suits, high heels, and the color red, preceded her into any room. Her love of travel took her and her dearest friends to many corners of the world. She missed them greatly as they have all gone on before her, but now their gang is complete again.

She is survived by her daughter Brooke (Dr Keith) Doubleday of Erin, WI, grandchildren Lindsey (Vainius) Naslenas of Oconomowoc, WI, Dr Amanda Doubleday (Jay Robertson) of Elm Grove, WI, Dr Bristol Galbraith (fiance Kevin Forsch) of Houston, TX, and Jordan Galbraith (Savannah Cocke) of Austin, TX and great-grandchildren Ryter, Hudson and Violet Naslenas of Oconomowoc and sister-in-law Jeanne Langley of Houston, TX.

Preceding her was Pete and beloved daughter Tracey. Tracey is survived by her husband Gary Galbraith of Dripping Springs, TX.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest source of pride and she loved them all beyond words.

In the last few months Angie had some health challenges that required her to have assistance at home. It was difficult to ask and receive that help as she was fiercely independent. But she loved all the ladies that took on the challenge and she felt undying gratitude for them all. They are the best of the best....our special thanks goes to Lori, Leslie, Arin, Kerris, Sabrina, Patty, Amy, and Danielle as our lives have forever become richer for having known them all. There was another member of “Team Angie” that deserves a mention. Granddaughter Amanda’s cat “Ivy” took up residence with Angie and became her stalwart companion and guiding light from “here to there”. Miss Ivy’s constant companionship, never leaving her side, was an amazing thing to witness.

Our thanks also to the staff at ProHealth in Oconomowoc from the ER to Home Hospice, whose care was beyond outstanding. We are forever grateful.
