Emblem

Glenn Arthur Schmidt, a devoted husband, father, son, and grandfather, passed away surrounded by family and loved ones on December 31, 2025, at the age of 83. He was born on February 26, 1942, to parents Walter and Myrtle (Seidel) Schmidt. He was a loving husband to Mary Elizabeth Schmidt for 58 years, and she stayed by his side up until the very end.

Glenn’s journey began in Hales Corners where he attended grade school followed by Freshman year at Greendale High school. He ultimately finished his high school years at Oconomowoc High School from 1958 to 1960 where he excelled in football, basketball, and track.

After high school graduation, Glenn joined the Air Force where he served for 4 years from Feb. 1964-Feb. 1968. He was stationed at Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota with a tour in Guam. Glenn had many fascinating stories to share about his time serving; his favorite of all being how he met his amazing wife, Mary.

Glenn worked hard to provide for his family as he worked two jobs simultaneously for over 30 years. He proudly delivered mail for the US Post Office and was a QC inspector at Silgan Containers in Oconomowoc. Even after retirement, he would refer back to his days of delivering mail in his mail jeep.

Glenn was a joyful soul who enjoyed playing cards, winning at bingo, soaking up the sun, and cracking jokes with family. He participated in community card and blackjack tournaments and never passed up an opportunity to win a prize and spend time with friends. His favorite time off from work was taking a week of vacation each July at Christmas Mountain in Wisconsin Dells. Many fond memories were made in the 30+ years at Christmas Mountain. He loved to collect objects such as car figurines, watches, and most recently stuffed animals he won at Bingo. Most importantly, he was constantly thinking of his family members and wanted to share as much as he could with them.

Glenn is most known for being humorous, caring, witty, hard-working, and exuberant with just a touch of stubbornness that contributed to him being a fun and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by many.

Glenn is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth Schmidt, and loving children: Tim Schmidt, Teri (Joe) Banach, and Ryan (Deb) Schmidt. He also was an amazing grandfather to Tyler, Tori, Tara, Maddison, Zachary, Peyton and Lucas. He also leaves behind his brother Warren (Jan) Schmidt and his sister Sharon (Steve) Kleinhans. Glenn is preceded in death by his parents Walter Frank Schmidt and Myrtle Mary (Seidel) Schmidt.

A visitation will take place on January 18, 2026, at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (2228 N. Silver Maple Ln, Oconomowoc, WI 53066) from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, with a service to follow. Glenn will be laid to rest at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia.
