Georg Konopka

Georg Konopka was born the son of a farmer in Prussia in 1933 and passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, May 8, 2025. During the war, his family moved to Tuningen in southern Germany where he would meet his wife Meta in nearby Tubingen. In 1961, Georg, Meta and newborn daughter Maike, moved to Winnipeg, Canada. They moved from Canada to Milwaukee and then in 1963, to Pewaukee, Wisconsin. In 1965, their son Uwe was born.

The family became members of Bethel church on 53rd Street and then eventually Ridgewood Church where they met many of their longtime friends. Georg worked as a mason and retired in 1996. Georg loved the outdoors. He fished, hunted and windsurf raced into his 80’s. Georg was a prolific green thumb and managed a large family garden and tended to fruit trees and bushes on their property. Georg was a man of deep faith who studied the bible daily and went to church every Sunday.

Georg will be missed by the love of his life Meta, daughter Maike, son Uwe, granddaughter Grace, son in law Jim and many family members, friends and neighbors. Rest in peace with your Father in heaven, Georg Konopka.

A Celebration of Georg’s life will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Ridgewood Church in Brookfield. Visitation for family and friends starting at 2:00 PM until the time of service at 3:00 PM.  Memorials can be made to Ridgewood Church https://www.ridgewoodchurch.org/ or Village Creek Bible Camp https://villagecreek.net/donate
