Eugene Robert Butler, age 93, of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025 at Aurora Summit Hospital. Gene was born on March 22, 1932 to Theodore and Mabel Butler in Summit, Wisconsin.
Gene was an avid outdoorsman who took immense pride and joy in his home, particularly in his yard and garden. He was truly happy tending to his plants, lovingly nurturing a peach tree that he had grown from a pit. His passion for nature extended to a deep love for birds, and he spent countless hours watching them. He was also an accomplished woodworker, often crafting beautiful birdhouses, providing shelter for his feathered friends who visited his home.
Gene is survived by his children Sally (Phil) Salzman, Kathy (George) Ekker, Barbara (Dean) Dehnert, Ann (Tim) Grabarz, Robert Butler, Margaret (Pete) Peterson, Matthew (Susan) Butler; grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great-grandchildren; daughter in law Pat Butler; son-in-law Brian Brennecke; along with many other loving family and friends.
Gene is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sally, with whom he has now been reunited. He is also preceded in death by his children John Butler and Monica Brennecke; his parents; and daughter-in-law Deanna Butler.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff at Aurora Summit Hospital, particularly on the 2nd floor, for their compassionate care and support during his final days. Their kindness and dedication went above and beyond, and for that, we are eternally grateful.
A private burial service will take place for the family at St. Jerome Cemetery, where he and Sally will be laid to rest together forever.
