Erwin “Erv” Willis Keepman, III, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.
Erv was born on March 28, 1946, in Watertown to Erwin Keepman II and Margaret “Peggy” Keepman. He was raised in Oconomowoc, where he built lifelong friendships and developed the steady, hardworking character that would define his life.
A proud father, coach, and provider, Erv dedicated himself first and foremost to his family. He is survived by his sons, Josh (Sabrina), Matt (Angela), and Adam (Katie) Keepman, and his eight beloved grandchildren: Wilson, Maggie, Sam, Theo, Stephan, James, Betsy and Mathias.
Nothing brought him greater pride than cheering from the sidelines, offering practical advice, or simply being present. His family will remember his guidance, quiet generosity, and familiar phrases — “You bet” and “I’ll tell you what”— delivered with equal parts conviction and humor.
Erv spent more than 40 years as an entrepreneur and plumbing contractor, beginning with Oconomowoc Plumbing and later with Appleton Plumbing. He took immense pride in being the cleanest plumber around, always ensuring a customer’s home looked as good — if not better — than when he arrived.
His workmanship, integrity, and reputation for doing things the right way earned him the trust of countless families. Beyond his trade, he supported the local sports booster club and was an active member of the United Methodist Church community. People will remember him as dependable and diligent — a man who showed up and followed through.
Outside of work, Erv had a passion for boat racing and relished time spent on the water. But those who knew him well also understood another great passion: Ice cream. A stop at Mullen's Dairy Bar or The Kiltie Drive-In was never just a treat — it was a tradition. Whether celebrating a win, softening the blow of a loss, or simply enjoying a summer evening, Erv believed most of life’s situations could be improved with a few scoops.
He is further survived by his brothers, Al and Charlie Keepman, his step daughters Allyson and Katie Pease as well as many nieces and nephews who loved “Uncle Ervie.”
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Richard J. Keepman; his parents, Erwin II and Peggy; and his beloved grandmother, Florence.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 14, at Pagenkopf Funeral Home in Oconomowoc from 10am to 12pm followed by a celebration of life service. A reception will be held at Lake Country DockHounds Stadium starting at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Operation Smile. The family also extends heartfelt thanks to the teams at Ivy Manor and Froedtert Hospital, in particular Kimberly, Tim, Ashley and Jeff for their compassionate care in Erv’s final days.
