Dorthea Victoria Hansen was born February 7, 1939, in Racine Wisconsin to Harold O. and Esther D. Hansen (nee Andersen). She was welcomed into Heaven on May 28, 2025.
Dorthea loved the Racine area and made it her home until her final years of life which she spent in Oconomowoc near her niece. Dorthea was a front-line person serving as a receptionist/office manager at various business establishments in the greater Racine region. She was ever the professional in both her personal appearance and interactions with clients. Dorthea never married and always remained geographically close to her aging parents. Dorthea enjoyed short excursions/trips with friends but always commented that home was her happy place!
Danish traditions were richly celebrated in her household! Fond memories of rituals have been proudly passed down to the next generation! The appreciation of ethnic foods like Kringles, open faced sandwiches, rye bread, herring and red cabbage was cultivated! Celebrations always meant we were in for a culinary treat!
Dorthea was quick witted and had a wonderful sense of humor. She had a beautiful smile that radiated real warmth. Dorthea wasn’t one to complain. When asked how she was doing (even as her health was failing) Dorthea would respond that she was “pretty good for an old gal!”
Dorthea was preceded in death by both her parents, her older brother Paul Hansen and sister-in-law Bernis Hansen. She is survived by her nephew Kevin Hansen and niece Kim (Jerry) Thomasen, great nieces Ashley (Tim Barbiaux) and Meggan (Adam Beyer).
Pagenkopf Funeral Home is serving the family. A private burial is planned at West Lawn Memorial Park in Mount Pleasant. Special thanks to all the staff at Lake Country Health Services and North Shore Hospice.
