Donald Frank Goerke, age 91, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026. He was born on September 16, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois. The loving son to Fred and Pearl (nee Johnson) Goerke.
Don was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany, where he exemplified dedication and spirit that would carry throughout his life. After his service, he dedicated many years to his career as a stocker and parts worker for the Milwaukee Railroad, cultivating a passion for trains, forming many lasting friendships through his involvement in train clubs and the greater rail community.
Don was a devoted member of the Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian Church, where his faith was a cornerstone of his life. A man of many passions, Don found joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid lover of the outdoors, he found delight in nature, especially in watching the birds. He was a social butterfly, well-known for his remarkable ability to connect with others. His love for life was beautifully expressed through his passion for dancing, especially the polka—a joy that brought him and those around him much happiness.
Don was a cherished member of our family, known for his kind spirit, sense of humor, and the love he shared with those around him. His legacy of love, dedication, and resilience will forever be etched in our hearts.
Don is survived by his beloved wife Debbie; son Brian; along with other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Lake Country Health Services and ProHealth Care Hospice, as well as the nursing staff and doctors at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital, for their compassionate care and support during this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian Church in Don’s name are welcome.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 17 at Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian Church (N66W32690 County Trunk Hwy K, Hartland, WI 53029) from 4:00-5:00pm, followed by a service. Military honors will be rendered in recognition of his service to our nation.
