Donald G. Kremer Jr.

Donald 'Dune' Gilbert Kremer , 88 , of Minong, WI, passed away May 25, 2014 at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 14, 1926 in Superior, Wisconsin. Don was a decorated World War II veteran, proudly serving in the United States Army Air Force. He was a lifelong educator and served as the first principal of Oconomowoc High School when it was built in 1968. Don was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed the north woods and introduced his children and grandchildren to the pleasures of the outdoors. He loved golf and was instrumental in organizing various golf leagues in Spooner, WI and Sebring, FL. Don was an exceptional, honorable gentleman who treated everyone with respect, greeted everyone with a smile, and connected with all through a joke or a story. His caring relationship with his wife, Elaine, serves as a model for his children, grandchildren, and future generations. Don endeared himself to everyone he met and will be dearly missed by all that knew him. Don is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 65 years, Elaine, children Carol Boots (Jon) Wagner, Mike (Kathryn) Kremer, grandsons Ben and Nate Wagner, Sam and Joe Kremer, great- grand children Taylor, Colin, Madison, Cooper, Emmett, Hudson, Sawyer, Mac and Deacon, sister Joan Morrison and brother Lee Kremer. He is preceded in death by his parents Don and Myrl Kremer. A celebration of Don's life will be held at Pagenkopf Funeral Home in Oconomowoc, WI on Friday, May 30, 2014. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:30 PM until 6:00 PM with military honors to follow. A private burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Minong, WI. Because he was a strong advocate of education, in lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to the Oconomowoc Scholarship Fund.
