Diana Lea McClain, age 72, passed away on January 22, 2026 at AngelsGrace Hospice. Born on April 19, 1953, in Clinton, Iowa, she was the loving daughter of James and Evelyn McClain.

In her earlier years, Diana embraced the sports of surfing and bodybuilding, showcasing her strength and determination. She also shared her creative talents as a watercolor artist, capturing the beauty of the world around her. Throughout her life, she embraced various roles, working as a manicurist and a bartender, focusing on cultivating connections with everyone she met

Diana shared her passion for animals by training horses and dedicating herself to her beloved Highland Golden Retrievers. Diana devoted her life to breeding and training her dogs and obtaining various levels of Hunter certifications for her Goldens. She was also a dedicated dog groomer but took the most pride in breeding, earning an AKC Breeder of Merit award. She poured her heart and soul into breeding dogs with the highest standards of temperament, structure, and trainability, which were the forefront of her goals.

Diana is survived by her son Dylan; grandson Seth Gettings; brother Randy (Sandy); nieces Nicolle McClain and Alyssa (Van) Burnett; her beloved dogs James, Jackie, Jolene, Flynn, and Joey, as well as other dear relatives and friends.

Diana is preceded in death by her parents; brother Robert McClain; and sister Sandra McClain, and beloved dogs, Maxie, Dusty, Jennie, Evie, Tommi, and Nessie.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at AngelsGrace for their compassionate care and support during this time.

A celebration of Diana's life will be held on May 9, 2026. The details regarding the location and time will be announced soon, and we invite friends and family to come together to honor her memory, share memories, and celebrate the beautiful life she lived.
