David Alan Evans

August 16, 1944 – May 25, 2025
David “Dave” Alan Evans, of the Town of Delafield, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, at ProHealth AngelsGrace Hospice, following nine months of memory care at Discovery Commons in Brookfield. Beloved husband of Patricia “Pat” (née Whyers) and dear father to Alan Evans and Daphne Roy, Dave’s spirit now flies free to live with the Lord.

Born on August 16, 1944, in Pryor, Oklahoma, to Virginia and Cleo Evans, Dave grew up along the Mississippi River in Granite City, Illinois. He graduated from Granite City High School and attended both Missouri Valley College and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville studying history, a lifelong passion. He began his career at the Granite City Steel Mill before discovering his true calling in the corrugated packaging industry, where he excelled in design, sales, and management. Among his many accomplishments, Dave was especially proud of being named Salesman of the Year nine consecutive years at Jefferson Smurfit Paper Company. In 2005, Dave accomplished his greatest career goal when he founded Destination Packaging, LLC, a wholesale corrugated packaging business through which he continued to serve his customers with dedication and pride.

On July 16, 1965, Dave married the love of his life, Patty. Together, they had three children,Alan, Leslie, and Daphne. Dave and Patty shared 59 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and adventure. They enjoyed gardening, socializing, and traveling, especially to Door County and Mazatlán, Mexico. So many miles; all rich with wonderful memories! Dave loved Patty with his entire being and often professed it to everyone he encountered, even as his memory continued to fade.

Known for his humor and caring spirit, Dave had a gift for lighting up a room and bringing joy to those around him. Dave loved music, singing, and quoting phrases from Fiddler on the Roof, particularly “If I were a rich man...” He celebrated Christmas daily, often exclaiming,“Ho-Ho-Ho,” and had a penchant for peppermint candies. His many interests included hunting, fishing, camping, car racing, gardening, cheering on Wisconsin sports teams, and spending time with family and friends. He also held a special place in his heart for his beloved grand-dog, Bear. Dave was incredibly proud of his children, treasured each of his grandchildren, and adored his great-grandchildren. He lived a blessed life - he knew it and he shared it.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his children, Alan (Erika) Evans and Daphne Roy; his brothers, Warren (Linda) Evans and Bruce (Pat) Evans; and his brother-in-law,Chester (Debbie) Whyers. He is also survived by eight grandchildren—Lauren, Caitlin(Jeremy), Moriah, Michaela, Sarah, Noah, Megan, and Rebecca—and two great-grandchildren, Nadia and Eden. Dave was preceded in death by his beloved infant daughter,Leslie Evans; his parents, Cleo and Virginia (née King) Evans; his brother, James (Shirley)Evans; his nephew, Matthew Evans; and other dear relatives. He will be deeply missed by many family members and friends.

In the infamous words of Dave, “Turn out the lights, the party’s over.” After 35 years of sobriety, hope you’re enjoying that “cc manhattan, easy on the vermouth, on the rocks, in a tub with no fruit.” Cheers! We love you, Dave.
