With heavy hearts but joyful memories, we celebrate the life of Cyrus Howard Peterson, born on March 22, 1932, in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Cyrus passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, at the age of 92, leaving behind a legacy of love, craftsmanship, and cherished moments.
Cyrus was a proud carpenter, dedicating his skills to the new construction industry for many years. His commitment to his craft was matched only by his dedication to his faith, family and the Stone Bank Fire Department. He is survived by his beloved children Debbie (Donald) Goerke, Scott (Helen) Peterson, Cindy (Dee) Anderson and Peggy (Steve) Baumann. His grandchildren Mindi (Ziggy) Peterson, Sarah (Dominic) Bichler, Joshua (Kara) Peterson, Erik (Madison) Anderson, Brooke (Sam) Siewert, Tyler (Paige) Peterson and Jack Baumann along with his loving great grandchildren Noah, Ally, Abel Bichler, JJ, Hunter Peterson, Aspen, Willow Siewert and Eleanor Anderson.
Cy was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Arlene Peterson, who instilled in him the values of hard work and integrity and his wife Eilleen, his angel of 65 years.
Cyrus's life was a testament to resilience, creativity, and the simple joys of everyday life. He took immense pride in his work, transforming wood and nails into homes and dreams, and was always ready with a kind word or helpful hand for anyone in need.
Cy dedicated himself to the Stone Bank Fire Department for 70 years, as a Captain, Assistant Chief and was very instrumental in starting the ambulance service. Cy was an ordained elder at the Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian Church. He and Eilleen formed a cruise travel agency and they loved cruising together with family and friends. He was an avid Packer fan and a proud share holder.
A celebration of Cyrus's remarkable life will be held on Saturday, March 8th at Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian Church (N66W32690 Hwy K Hartland WI). A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 AM until time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian Church, reflecting Cyrus's spirit of giving.
Cyrus Howard Peterson’s warmth and wisdom will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty he so dearly appreciated.
