Constance Kay Hanson (Lenz), age 82 of Oconomowoc, was called to reunite with her husband in eternal life on May 26, 2025. Constance (Connie) Lenz was born on January 4, 1943, to the late Norman and Margaret (Pamplin) Lenz in Oshkosh, WI. On August 14, 1965, she was united in marriage to Robert John Hanson in Neenah, WI.
At a very young age Connie started her first job working alongside her grandfather, Robert, at his greenhouse business, Miles Florists. She later attended the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh earning a master’s degree in education. Connie was a teacher for over 30 years. Most of her career was spent teaching kindergarten at Neosho Elementary School.
Connie was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church Oconomowoc where she volunteered and participated in different church groups and activities. Prior to moving to Oconomowoc, she had been a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Neosho, WI.
Connie had a passion for helping others. She volunteered at Shorehaven Lutheran Homes as well as her final place of residence, Towner Crest Presbyterian Homes in Oconomowoc where she made many new wonderful friends in her final years. She also served as an election worker for the Town of Oconomowoc.
Connie loved to sew and developed a skill for quilting in her spare time. One of her favorite quilts has a red, white, and blue theme. She donated this quilt to Towner Crest where it is used as a dignity quilt for those who have passed. In recent years she worked with the build-a-bear program, helping to assemble stuffed bears which are given to the patients at Angel's Grace Hospice where she spent her final days.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Stephen Lenz; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Bernard Glander; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and Harold Birling; and niece, Diane Shaffer. She is survived by her children, April (Brian) Gliniecki of Menomonee Falls, Eric Hanson of Hartford, and beloved granddaughter, Emily Gliniecki. Also survived by one brother, Mike (Donna) Lenz of Oshkosh and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She will further be remembered by the many students who passed through her classroom doors.
Visitation will take place Sunday, June 29 from 12:30pm until the time of service at 1:00pm with lunch to follow at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 1650 Brown St. Oconomowoc, WI 53066. Memorials to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church are appreciated.
Special thanks to the staff at Towner Crest Presbyterian Homes, Brighton Hospice, and Angel's Grace Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
