Charles Robert Gastrow passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the warmth and love of his family on December 16, 2025 at the age of 67. Chuck was born on July 8, 1958 to Louis and Barbara (Fletcher) in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
Chuck was deeply passionate about scouting, serving devotedly in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, and was particularly enthusiastic about training the trainers. His commitment to fostering leadership and skills in young people was a testament to his caring nature. A proud member of the Oconomowoc Masonic Lodge #42, Chuck embodied the principles of friendship, charity, and truth, leaving a lasting impact on his community.
Chuck loved nothing more than gathering with his friends on the golf course, had a discerning taste for a good glass of bourbon and loved to tinker with various projects. A true car enthusiast, Chuck took great pride in his 1969 Roadrunner, a labor of love that he meticulously assembled himself. Traveling brought him immense joy, allowing him to explore new places and create lasting memories with his family. Above all, Chuck treasured his family, who meant the world to him.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Karen, with whom he shared a beautiful 42 years of marriage; his two sons Brandon (Maddie) Gastrow and Eric Gastrow (Sandra Sanchez); grandchildren Annabelle and Camden; brothers Michael (Diane), Ray (Justine) and Lou (Dawn); along with many other loving family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Glenn.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Adam Siegel, Deanna Ficke, and all the compassionate nurses at the Summit Vince Lombardi Cancer Center, whose care and kindness brought comfort to Chuck during his time of need.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066) from 3:00-5:00pm, followed by a service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Oconomowoc Masonic Lodge #42 in Chuck’s name are welcome.
