Shannon Wittal July 23, 1941 – February 7, 2019 Shannon Wittal, 77, of Fort Atkinson, WI (formerly of Pewaukee, WI and Mesa, AZ), passed away of complications from dementia with her daughter by her side on Thursday, February 7, 2019. Shannon loved horses, dogs and ballroom dancing, earning numerous dance medals and dog agility awards during her life. She was a dedicated horse show mom and nervous race-car mom as she supported the interests of her children. She grew up in Wind Lake, WI, was Miss South Shore Water Frolic around 1960, graduated from Alverno College with a business degree in 1987 and worked in IT at Quad Graphics before retiring to AZ. Shannon is survived by her daughter Brenda Mueller, grandson, Donovan Mueller, brothers James (Geri) Schoemperlen and Jack (Syamala) Schoemperlen and sister Barbara (Harry) Eldridge along with nieces and nephews, friends and extended family. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Elmer and Celestine Schoemperlen, son Roger Wittal and nephew Rychard Whalen. Donations may be made to Sienna Crest Memory Care, Ft. Atkinson, the Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement or to the family c/o Pagenkopf Funeral Home, 1165 Summit Ave., Oconomowoc, WI 53066. The family would like to thank Sienna Crest Memory Care for their exceptional care of Shannon during her struggle with dementia and the Alzheimer’s Support Group at Shorehaven for their endless support, tears and laughter. Her daughter has become a strong advocate for better treatment of dementia patients since Shannon’s diagnosis.
