Robert C. Porath 'Bob', age 87 of Dousman, born December 8, 1925 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Passed into eternal life on Sunday, December 2, 2012. Bob was the devoted husband of Dorothy M. Porath (nee Karnthaler), beloved father of daughters Lynn S. (Phillip) Arazny of Illinois and Phyllis R. (Daniel) Williams of New Jersey. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Walter L. and Viola M. Porath and younger sister Carolyn R. Porath. Other survivors left to mourn include, brother Norman F. Porath of Arkansas and sister Arlene L. (Robert) Stein of Florida. Bob was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving with the 63rd Combat Infantry Division in the Ardennes and other actions in France and Germany. He was a graduate of UW-Milwaukee, earning a BS degree. He was a State of Wisconsin Registered Sanitarian, member of the American Chemical Society, American Association of Cereal Chemists, Environmental Management Association, American Academy of Sanitarians and American Society of Quality Control. In his professional career, he was employed by Krause Milling Co. as a chemist, the City of Milwaukee as Food Inspector and at Pabst Brewing Co. in Milwaukee as the Plant Sanitarian. Bob was initiated a Mason in 1964 in Shorewood Lodge, F&AM #339, where he served twice as Worshipful Master, and was honored with the title Mason of the Year. He later served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of George Washington Lodge 1776 #337 in Whitefish Bay and most recently, a member of Glenn L. Humphrey Lodge #364, Dousman, Wisconsin. Bob was a member of Milwaukee PAF Computer User's Group and served seven years as a volunteer computer instructor with the North Shore School for Seniors in Whitefish Bay. He enjoyed ten-plus years as German Fest volunteer and was a long-time member of Pommerscher Verein Freistadt as well as a former member of The Austrian Club. He was an avid amateur photographer. Bob thoroughly enjoyed his world travels with Dorothy, including trips to Germany, Austria, France, Lichtenstein, Turkey, Italy, Russia and especially his trips to Alaska and the American northwest. A high point of Bob's retirement years was the Honor Flight to the WWII Memorial at Washington, D.C. in November of 2010, recognizing the contribution to liberty of the millions of American GIs who sacrificed so much for the dignity of mankind. Funeral services will be at Humphrey Lodge on the Three Pillars Campus in Dousman, WI on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the Humphrey Lodge. A private interment will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park. If desired flowers for the funeral services may be sent to the Humphrey Lodge, 375 State Road 67, Dousman, WI 53118.
