Richard W. Dieckhoff, 80 of Oconomowoc, passed into Eternity April 26, 2018 at Marquardt Health Center where he was admitted for rehab after a fall, fracturing his hip. Richard was born May 22, 1937, the son of Walter and Frieda Dieckhoff in Calamus Township, Dodge County Wisconsin. He was a graduate of Fall River High School and Columbia County Teacher’s College, earning a degree in elementary education from UW Platteville. He was an elementary teacher for 21 years mainly in Stoughton, Wisconsin. He also farmed the family farm with his brother, LeRoy, raising beef cattle and farm crops. Richard grew up with, and loved horses. He was a collector of antique buggies and sleighs and gave rides to people of all ages over the years. He also spent many happy times with family and friends at his “Northland” property in Minong, Wisconsin. Richard and his mother lived on the family farm for most of his life. She passed away in January 2000, at the age of 91. He was a kind and loving caregiver to her in her last years. In September, 2007, Richard chose to follow Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life. On February 14, 2008, he married Sandra Giese of Oconomowoc the joy of his life, who he met nearly 50 years ago at the Columbia County Teachers College. She survives him, along with two stepsons, Darin and Brett Giese, brother, LeRoy (Betty) Dieckhoff, and brother-in-law, Lyle Schoenwelter. He is further survived by 7 nieces and nephews, and 16 great nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, Walter and Frieda Dieckhoff, and sisters, Dorothy Schoenwelter and Vera Reihbrandt. Services for Richard will be held Monday, April 30, 2018 at Turner Hall, 301 S. 4th Street, Watertown. A visitation will be held from 9:30am until the service at 11:00am. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Fall River cemetery at Fall River, Wisconsin. The family extends a special thank you to Highland House and Marquardt Health Center, Watertown and to Azura Memory Care, Oconomowoc, for their loving care for Richard. Thanks also to friend, Roger Bork, who was a faithful caretaker at the farm for the last 10 years.
