Mardene J. Luck

Mardene Luck, nee Counsell, passed away Sunday, December 2nd, 2012 at Angels Grace Hospice after a short illness. She was born May 28, 1931 at home in Mapleton to A. Earl and Louise Tuskey Counsell. She attended Oconomowoc schools and was an OHS 1949 graduate. She was involved with planning many class reunions. She married Jack Dean Luck on April 29, 1951 and they resided in the Oconomowoc area their entire lives, raising their 4 children-Dwight, Doreen, Dennis and Diane-the '4 Ds'. She was employed at the Oconomowoc Enterprise and Bonded Spirits before being a stay at home mom, being 'room' mom to many classrooms for her children. She also was a Den Mother and Brownie Leader. She was the co owner of Infants and Children's Shop in Oconomowoc from 1976-1981. She was a member of Dr. Martin Luther Church where she taught Sunday School and was involved in the Quilting Group. She also knitted many prayer shawls and Baptismal blankets for church members and also 100s of mittens for area children. Her hand knit sweaters where cherished by many. She had been a volunteer for the Oconomowoc Food Pantry and Silver Streak Taxi. She was a great and loyal friend-enjoying 60+ years of friendship with her 'gray haired ladies' and reconnecting with her ' 49rs 'for lunch. She was one to do everything for everyone, but not wanting anyone to do anything for her. A true kind soul-one of a kind ! Funeral services for Mardene will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Dr. Martin Luther Lutheran church. Funeral service will be at 12:00 P.M. with a visitation starting at 10:00 A.M. with burial to follow at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia. Those who will miss her dearly are: her children Dwight (Lynne) Luck, White Lake, MI and their children Connor and Courtney, Doreen (Tim) Salter, North Prairie; Dennis 'Mel' Luck, Reeseville, and Diane (Rich) Zurowski, West Bend, and their children Sarah and Matt. Brother Curtis 'Nic' (Pat) Counsell, Sister in law Charlotte Counsell , many nieces, nephews and friends, including her 'extended family', the Andersons. She was predeceased by her husband, Dean, her brother Vernon, brother in law Don and his wife , Harriet Luck, niece Kathy Counsell, nephews Don 'Fritz' Luck, Charles Counsell and Glenn Counsell, Great Nephew Cedric Evans, and her 'special sister' Arlyne Anderson. Memorials to Dr. Martin Luther Church Quilters, Oconomowoc Food Pantry or Angels Grace Hospice. Special thanks to the ICU staff at Oconomwoc Memorial Hospital and to the nurses at Angels Grace for the care of our mom......you took care of her....as well as us.
