James F. Bentley, 88 of Oconomowoc, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at his home. Jim is survived by his loving wife Sally, children George (Ruth) Bentley, Jocelyn (Brooke) Grinde, Julia (Alan) Halvorson and Amanda (Jeff) Books, grandchildren Ingrid (B.J.) Dalsing, Marta (Ross) Leix, Caroline Grinde, Leah (Patrick) Hill, Rachel (Chadd) Phillips, Andrea Halvorson, Mariah Halvorson, Thomas Bentley, Tyler Books and Travis Books, great-grandchildren Tucker, Britton, Paxton, Aidan, Danielle, Jackson and Mason. Jim is also survived by sisters Louise Craig and Shirley (Earl) Nelson along with many other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Millard and Minnie Bentley, brothers Charles, Glenn and Millard Jr., sisters Ruby, Heddy, Janet and granddaughter Erica Grinde. Jim was a United States Navy veteran serving in WWII and the Korean War. He retired after 32 years from Wisconsin Telephone Company. Jim was a Kiwanis member, enjoyed golfing, fishing and time on the farm. He also was an avid sports fan, especially the Brewers and Packers. Jim loved spending time with his family and friends. Funeral services for Jim will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 11:30 AM. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service, all to be held at the church. Jim will be laid to rest at LaBelle Cemetery following the service with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Shorehaven or the Oconomowoc Regional Cancer Center.
