Elaine H. Adamec

Elaine H. Adamec “Toots” Formerly of West Allis, Beaver Dam, Waukesha, Oconomowoc and Watertown. From a daughter’s perspective… “It isn’t until your childhood is long past that you realize how special it was. Mothers have a way of taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary-especially my mother. She loved the sun and the water. Summer mornings she would pack up all four of us and we’d spend the morning and early afternoon at Lake Danoon swimming and having fun before she had to get to her 2nd shift job. Everyone knew mom was a talented, creative, and original seamstress… no patterns needed. She put a smile on many a bride’s face. Around the time I was in junior high she gathered the girls in the neighborhood to teach us to sew. By the time school started we had made our entire wardrobe for school thanks to her patience and creative way to make everything fun. My one-of-a-kind wardrobe was very unappreciated at the time until I insisted on having a store bought dress for prom my junior year only to have two other girls arrive with the same one! She even managed to put a spin on getting our polio shots…we landed on the front page of the West Allis Star when we were standing in line on the sidewalk in front of the West Allis Health Center…all wearing matching red bandanna print shirts she sewed for the occasion. For a family reunion they hosted at our place on Beaver Dam Lake, in addition to all the planning she found time to make our entire family matching swimming suits… all of this while holding down a full time job. Interested in all forms of art, particularly painting, we had the only kitchen I have seen that had a life size Mexican, complete with sombrero, riding a donkey painted free-hand on our kitchen wall. Our entire basement was painted with life size Flamingo dancers and a Mariachi band. As time freed up she went on to paint exceptional oil paintings- country scenes her specialty! Her interests… gardening, flower arranging, home decorating, clowning, sailing, bicycling, traveling… you don’t realize how much those homemade cards meant until the hands that made them are still… We have a short time on this earth to make our mark and some are unaware of the impact they made by simply living their life.” Mom was born April 21, 1925 in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and died April 10, 2018 in Watertown. She was preceded in death by her lifetime best friend and husband of 50+ years Melvin Adamec, sons Gregg and Mike Adamec, parents Henry & Marie Frahm, sister Shirley Puza, daughter-in-law Teresa Adamec, mother & father-in-law James & Ruth Adamec, brothers-in law, Donald (Audrey) Hanson, Will (Delores) Adamec, Ron Adamec and Jerry (Barb) Adamec. Best friend to daughters Sandy Eppers and Kathy Adamec, fun loving grandma to Pat (Reyna) McNamar, Shawn (Kathy Holmes) McNamar, Sarah Holbert and Mindy (Terry) Eichinger; Christian (Jennifer) Adamec; great-grandchildren Jesse McNamar, Julia McNamar, Deagan McNamar, Shelby Holbert, Cole Eichinger, Alana Eichinger, Weston Adamec and Audrey Adamec; sister to Audrey Hanson and brothers Rolland (LaVerne) Frahm, Ken Frahm and many nieces and nephews. Toots was a retiree of Briggs & Stratton Corporation. A private burial will be held at Highland Memorial Park. “I’ve seen the monster…the thief of life.” To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die….
